Poem 109: Sweet Evening
One cat on the sofa,
One sleeping on the chair,
One sock off the needles,
Soon to be a pair;
Jazz sways in the background,
Children play tag outside,
I'd think this was heaven,
But I haven't died.
Evening cascades downward,
The cooling air, pure bliss;
Bed and book await me,
Twilight unfurls slowly,
Lingering so sweetly,
Like a goodnight kiss.
