motherly, tender,
you held out my new jacket,
helped me with the sleeves,
then fastened all those buckles
behind my back, my arms crossed

Hi, again! This is also a "prompt-generated poem." Over on the #NaPoWriMo website, they post one every day.

I approach poetry similarly to my fiction writing--an opportunity to tell a story, paint a word picture, evoke visceral reactions. Poetry is strong stuff because all that happens in a very brief space.
